Two trucks stolen from yard – One of three serious incidents, says Mapogo

Crime in Randfontein was on the decrease this week with only three incidents reported – one each of attempted housebreaking, a motor vehicle theft and robbery.

It was a relatively quiet week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security’s client base in Randfontein.

Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said only three incidents were reported for the period between Monday, May 30 and Sunday, June 5.

A breakdown of the incidents:

• Wednesday, June 1 at 03:06 – Attempted housebreaking on Da Gama Street, Culemborg Park: Perpetrators gained entry onto the premises, and when they forced open the garage door the alarm sounded and they fled the scene.

• Friday, June 3 at 07:49 – Theft of a motor vehicle on 1st Street, Randfontein: Perpetrators gained entry onto the premises during the evening and stole two trucks from the yard.

• Friday, June 3 at 03:06 – Robbery on Botha Street, Randgate: Perpetrators entered the store and robbed the owner of cell phones, money and cigarettes, and fled the scene.
