Minutes after the incident, Rand West Neighbourhood Watch together with numerous armed response companies responded to the scene. The armed responses searched for the suspects and managed to find four who were hiding in the yard of a house.

Sibiya stated that as the team of police and security guards were about to leave the scene, they noticed that the last suspect was hiding on top of a roof. The suspect tried to evade arrest by jumping off of the roof but was eventually apprehended.

Police recovered a PlayStation 3 and two cellphones.

Randfontein Police Station Commander Brigadier Jacob Manamela, who was on the scene, praised the swift response and good working relationship between the police and security companies.

“Your commitment to working together and swift response will put us in a good position to outrun criminals. I am truly impressed,” Manamela concluded.
