WATCH: Four suspects gunned down in Randridge AH business robbery attempt
A planned business robbery in Randridge Agricultural Holdings ended in a deadly shootout, leaving four suspects dead and police vowing zero tolerance for crime.
Four suspects were killed during a shootout with police along Ventersdorp Road in Randridge Agricultural Holdings on August 5.
According to the acting provincial police commissioner, Major-General Fred Kekana, police intercepted the suspects who were planning a business robbery, specifically targeting a businessperson in the Randfontein area.
“We received intelligence from the Eastern Cape that the suspects were planning to rob a business. We then deployed our tactical response team and anti-gang unit to intercept them. When police tried to stop them, they started shooting at the police officers. Police had no choice but to defend themselves,” he said.

Police also recovered multiple casings inside the suspect’s vehicle, a rifle, magazines and two pistols.
Kekana added that they were driving a vehicle with a false number plate, with the correct ones found in the boot.
He added that it is a criminal group and police cannot rule out that they were involved in crimes in other regions.
Kekana also did not hold back from saying criminals will face the full might of the law.
“Criminals are not allowed to think they can rule this country,” he concluded.
