Finsbury residents angered by dilapidated road
Two residents have come forward with concerns about the condition of Tafelberg Street, and they wonder if the municipality will ever intervene.
What was once a tar street is now a completely unrecognisable dirt road. This is according to resident Jackson Motlhowa, who added that the state of Tafelberg Street can be attributed to the many trucks that use the route.

“It is a residential area, but the trucks still use the road because the signs that limit them are not visible. One of the signs is completely washed off, while the other sign is obscured by overgrown trees,” he said.
The ongoing issue has left Jackson and his family unable to sleep at night.
“The trucks are extremely loud. Whenever the trucks use these residential streets, they always make noise.
There are many dangers, and we as residents fear for the safety of other drivers and pedestrians,” Motlhowa explained.
Another resident, Gabriel Montshiwa, stated that he has submitted complaints to the Rand West City Local Municipality on various occasions, but has never received any feedback.

“We would like the municipality to set up new signs for weight limits. Also, we need them to repair this road. If the municipality can maintain the area, it would be much appreciated. Due to the lack of streetlights, many residents have been robbed. The overgrown field across from the road also harbours snakes that might become a great concern,” Montshiwa said.

The Randfontein Herald has reached out to municipal spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, who noted the request; however, no comment was given at the time of print. Their feedback will be published once received.
