UPDATE: Current reservoir water levels critically low

The most recent municipal statement has noted that the Glenharvie and Bekkersdal reservoirs remain empty, leaving some areas with no water access.

Rand West City Local Municipality shared an update on current water levels, confirming that the Glenharvie and Bekkersdal reservoirs remain empty.

According to Rand West City Local Municipality’s spokesperson, Phillip Montshiwa, he explained that Rand Water has imposed Level 2 water restrictions on the municipality, resulting in 0% water levels in the areas of Venterspos and Westonaria.

He further noted that pumps have been switched off in Randfontein, which is currently affecting Mohlakeng and Toekomsrus.

These are the water levels across various areas:

• Bekkersdal pressure towers: Empty
• Glenharvie reservoir 1 and 2: Empty
• Westergloor reservoir 1, 2 and 3: 20%
• Finsbury reservoir: 30%
• Westonaria reservoir 1: 50%
• Westonaria reservoir 2: 45%
• Westonaria reservoir 3: 50%
• Greenhills reservoir 1 and 2: 30%
• Waterpan reservoir: 55%
• Hillshaven reservoir: 45%
