Homestead Avenue pothole repairs in final phase
Ongoing road repairs on Homestead Avenue aim to improve driving conditions and safety, but motorists should brace for temporary disruptions as work progresses.
Road rehabilitation efforts are currently underway on Homestead Avenue in Greenhills as part of ongoing infrastructure maintenance by Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM).
According to the MMC for Roads and Transport, Councillor Bruce Nimmerhoudt, the repairs form part of the municipality’s broader programme to restore road conditions across the area, particularly following damage caused by persistent rainfall and ageing infrastructure.

He said previous maintenance work in the vicinity, including at the intersection of Homestead Avenue and Kenneth Road, highlighted the growing need to address potholes and drainage issues affecting motorists.
Construction teams have been deployed to carry out patching, resurfacing, and general road rehabilitation along sections of Homestead Avenue. These works aim to improve driving conditions, enhance road safety and extend the lifespan of the roadway.
Motorists are advised to expect temporary disruptions, including partial road closures and delays while construction is in progress. Traffic management measures are being implemented to ensure the safety of both workers and road users.
Nimmerhoudt continues to oversee the development of the project.
“The project is nearing completion and is expected to be finalised within the next one or two weeks, after which the road will be restored and reopened for public use. Residents are encouraged to remain patient during the construction period and to use alternative routes where possible as the upgrades continue,” Nimmerhoudt concluded.
