Residents urged to prepare for planned water interruptions

Rand West City residents are urged to prepare for possible low water pressure and water interruptions as planned maintenance by Rand Water is expected to affect supply between May and July.

Residents in Rand West City are advised to prepare for possible water supply disruptions as the Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) announced upcoming planned maintenance on bulk infrastructure by Rand Water.

According to RWCLM spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, the maintenance is scheduled to take place between the end of May and the middle of July. It will affect the Eikenhof System, which supplies water to Rand West.

The first scheduled maintenance has already commenced, with the second major maintenance operation planned for July 17, when Eskom will conduct work at the Zuikerbosch system. This maintenance will last 12 hours but is expected to have a greater impact, with pumping at Eikenhof reduced to 50%.

The municipality has urged residents, businesses and institutions to use water sparingly during these periods and, where possible, to store sufficient water in advance.

Further updates and any changes to the schedule will be communicated through the municipality’s official channels.
