Public Safety Manager receives top award

She received the Guardian Award from the Gauteng Provincial Legislature for her notable service throughout the years.

Rand West City Public Safety Manager Kgomotso Mthethwa has received recognition for her hard work and dedication, and was awarded the Guardian Award at the Vita Basadi Awards.

The awards ceremony was hosted by the Gauteng Provincial Legislature on August 31 in Johannesburg to honour women within their identified areas of work and their acts of services to fellow citizens who lack the necessary means to help themselves.

The Herald met up with the thrilled Mthethwa who said it felt good to know that her efforts and hard work were being recognised and appreciated.

I was shocked to hear that I was invited to be a guest at the Vita Basadi awards, which is an annual event.

“I was excited but I wasn’t anticipating anything. There I realised that people were getting different types of awards and I was shocked to learn that I too was a recipient of these prestigious awards,” she said.

Mthethwa who is stationed at the Rand West Traffic Department currently deals with traffic administration and prosecution.

She previously worked as the Westonaria Traffic Chief prior to the then Randfontein Local Municipality merging with Westonaria Local Municipality to form Rand West City Local Municipality. She is a teacher by profession and has an honours degree in Education. She also holds a Bachelor of Policing and was a top student in Traffic Science Policing.
