R’ntein learners to have their artwork on SPAR trucks
The two learners won a drawing competition and will have their artwork in the form of a family portrait featured on SPAR delivery trucks.
Two Randfontein learners have won a regional drawing competition and will have their artwork in the form of a family portrait featured on SPAR delivery trucks across the Gauteng, Free State, Limpopo and North West regions.
The two also won a R1 000 voucher each that they can spend on themselves.
The competition ran at SPAR retailers in the North and South Rand divisions from May 29 to June 24.
The 11-year-old Kian Potgieter and eight-year-old Lameeq Losper entered the competition at the SPAR in Randgate at different times.
Speaking to theĀ Herald, Lameeq’s mother, Monique Losper said her daughter was beyond thrilled to have won the competition.
I first heard about the competition on radio and when I popped into SPAR for our day-to-day essentials, I got the form and told my child to enter the competition. She was excited to get started and once she was done we submitted it and that was that.
“Not so long ago we asked at the shop if anyone had won the competition and we were told that they didn’t know yet, so we felt discouraged.
“We thought she didn’t make it and felt so sad because she was very proud of the picture,” said Losper who added that her daughter jumped for joy when she heard the good news.
Asked what she would do with the voucher, Losper said she believed that Lameeq would spend the money on toys and arts and craft items that she can use to continue making portraits.

“My daughter loves toys and she definitely loves arts and crafts so I’m certain that the money will be spent well.
“If it’s not acrylic paint or oil pastels, it will be a Barbie doll or some accessories for her dolls,” said Losper.
Kian mother, Heleen Potgieter said they too were thrilled when they heard that he had won the competition.
We were buying bread and milk at SPAR when one of the cashiers asked my son if he would like to enter the competition.
“Kian is very passionate about drawing so he was happy from the moment he knew that he could do this,” said Potgieter who added that she was very surprised when she received the call that he had won the competition.
She said Kian would probably buy branded sneakers. “He can use the money as he pleases; I’m really happy for him,” said Potgieter.
