Finsbury’s Rebaone the Face of Devotion

The 24-year-old is a true example of beauty with brains and has her face on a billboard in Dube, Soweto.

Rebaone Phithi is making it big in the entertainment industry after being crowned the Face of Devotion Mzansi Ambassador for 2022.

The 24-year-old Finsbury resident is the first person ever to hold this national title which she won during a grand pageant in New Factory Baseline in Johannesburg.

Prior to this, Phithi had also won the Face of Devotion Mzansi Gauteng Ambassador title in August 28 last year. Her face is not only in different newspapers throughout the country but it is also on a billboard in Dube in Soweto – an achievement she is most proud of.

During an interview with the Herald Phithi said, “Face of Devotion is not necessarily about the beauty and walks we know modelling to be associated with. It is mainly about grooming young people to become young leaders and developing their leadership skills. It is also about encouraging them to focus on their dedication and commitment, and actively become role models. That’s what I love.

“It is somehow also breaking the societal standards of what beauty pageantry is all about. In that journey I became the face of Devotion Mzansi Gauteng Ambassador in the provincial show and later on I won the national title of Face of Devotion Mzansi Ambassador for all nine provinces,” said Phithi.

She is a true example of beauty with brains, and holds a double major degree in Psychology and Sociology from the North West University Vaal Triangle Campus.

She is currently working towards becoming a clinical psychologist. Born and bred in Finsbury, Phithi started modelling in 2020.

“I was actually spotted by an agent during my birthday shoot and that’s how I became part of the Face of Devotion Mzansi pageant. Tshepo Lubisi who spotted me is the founder of the modelling agency that I am part of which is TDC Models. I then was selected as one of the models to represent TDC Models to join Face of Devotion Mzansi last year,” said Phithi who added that at the time she only had modelling experience and no pageantry experience.

Despite this, she gave it her all and hoped for the best. She is thrilled about the doors the title was able to open for her.

Through Face of Devotion Mzansi I received the necessary skills, and I’ve met a lot of influential people. I’ve had collaboration shoots with photographers and celebrity make-up artists, I’ve worked with some of the greats in the modelling industry, and I’ve also been presented with a lot of opportunities regarding the modelling industry. I’m very grateful and happy that I was selected to join,” said Phithi.

Phithi will also be heading to Miami on October 26 this year to shoot a documentary for the Face of Devotion, and is in need of support in the form of donations of R20 000 from locals and businesses alike. This will help fund her travelling costs.

Phithi can be contacted on 081 054 71243, or the founder of Face of Devotion, Mzansi Oscar Mabuza can be contacted on 065 838 1754.
