Community shows up for a day of fun and education at business open day
Over 150 community members enjoyed a day of fun and some education about safety in the lifting and rigging industry during Shutterlock's open day.
The community showed up in large numbers to support Shutterlock during their open day which included some fun as well as a discussion about safety-critical equipment to the lifting and rigging industry on October 17.
The marketing manager for the business, Sheri-Lee van Zyl, explained since their last open day in 2008, there have been many changes to the facilities and they wanted to showcase this to the public. Other businesses also joined in on the day with their own stalls.

“The aim was to educate the visitors about the importance of safety in all applications with regards to our products which are all safety-critical products for our industry.”
She noted the day was a success with over 150 people showing up.
There were giveaways and a selfie competition with the biggest shackle on the African continent, the total weight is 2 588kg and it can lift 5 625 tons before it deforms.
“Visitors and exhibitors thoroughly enjoyed the day and the networking opportunities that took place as a result of the open day.”
