Immanuel Mission lends a helping hand to those in need

Lending a helping hand one garden at a time, Immanuel Mission hopes to put a stop to poverty.

Immanuel Mission reaches out to various communities across the West Rand hoping to bring change.

Pastor Ryan Valaitham, founder of the mission, explained they are a non-profit company and their focus is humanitarian work. Among their projects are the Immanuel Gardens where they plant vegetables in community gardens. They also have a feeding project where they provide essential food items to those in need, they also assist in the feeding schemes of two schools and a daycare centre in Randfontein.

“Being in ministry one needs to be at the grassroots level to understand the challenges that people go through. All around us we are seeing the effects of poverty, it was at this time we started Immanuel Mission,” said Ryan.

The areas they reach out to not only include Randfontein, but Krugersdorp and Roodepoort as well. They are also talking about expanding their outreaches to West Africa, KZN and the Western Cape.

Ryan noted they have been doing outreaches since August last year.

“We teach communities how to grow and maintain their gardens we hope that these communities will be able to sustain themselves through this initiative. Our work is intended to be a hand-up rather than a handout.

“We invite people to help us when we have special outreaches. Our outreaches are always current as we assist with the school feeding schemes. We have a section 18A and welcome donations to continue reaching out.”
