Attention all pregnant West Rand mothers! Join this free service

The South African National Department of Health’s flagship programme, known as MomConnect, is not only celebrating 10 years of service but is also inviting soon-to-be mothers across the West Rand to register.

MomConnect was launched in 2014 whereafter almost five million mothers registered. It aims to support maternal and child health using mobile technology.

Registered pregnant women and new mothers receive free maternal health messaging via SMS or WhatsApp and can access a text-based helpdesk for ratings or queries. These services are free and available in all 11 official South African languages and can be used until the mother’s child is two years old.

“I’d like to congratulate the National Department of Health on this incredible milestone. We are proud to have brought in key partners that have contributed to the country’s maternal and child health progress in such a significant way. Together, we’ll empower five million more moms and improve the health and social development of South Africans,” said CEO of Reach Digital Health Debbie Rogers.

Pregnant women and new mothers can sign up for the services at clinics nationwide. West Rand mothers can register at clinics in Krugersdorp, Randfontein and Roodepoort. The following clinics can be used to register:
