NPO making headway in fight against addiction

Operation 'Helping addicts' is gaining momentum in the Toekomsrus community.

Helping The Next Addict (HTNA), an NPO that aims to help those struggling with addiction, again held a major outreach in the Toekomsrus community.

Secretary for HTNA Gary Paulse explained, “As recovering addicts, we understand the devastating impact of addiction on our community. That’s why we’re committed to sharing our experiences and knowledge to help others overcome this disease.”

He noted their event held on January 25 was a success thanks to their team’s collective effort. He expressed their gratitude towards those who attended and the opportunity to speak to the community and make a positive impact.

Gary noted they hope to have monthly outreaches in the community

“Our mission is to fight addiction and support those affected,” he said.

They also have support meetings for those struggling with addiction or who knows of someone that’s struggling.

On Mondays and Fridays they can be found at Church of the Nazarene at 18:30 and on Wednesdays in Rose Street at 18:30.

They also offer counselling, rehab referrals, house visits and call-outs.

Any person who would like to get in touch with them can reach them via email at htnafo@gmail.com.
