Cast Aways on the brink of closure

It might be the end of the line for Cast Aways and its animals if they do not receive the donations they urgently need.

If Cast Aways Animal Sanctuary cannot receive the help they urgently need, they will be forced to shut down the shelter.

“This is the third week in a row that we need to ask for food to feed our shelter dogs. Did you know that all 130 dogs in our care consist of 90% strays found in Randfontein?

“They come in either neglected, dumped or rescued. People pick them up from the streets and do not know where to go with them. Then we take in those animals with barely any support from the community and none of the residents are willing to adopt a dog,” founder Louisa Rossouw said.

I did everything possible to keep Cast Aways standing. I made multiple loans and even put myself in debt to keep the doors open.

“So much so that I am unable to make another loan. Please, if anyone is willing to donate cat or dog food to our shelter, we appeal to you.”

Rossouw also added that if anyone would like to adopt a dog, it would only cost them R600, which includes deworming, parasite control, vaccination, microchip and sterilisation.

“Please remember, we will still do strict home checks to ensure our animals get the best homes they deserve.”
