Making a difference one can at a time

Old age home residents were treated by the Mohlakeng Concerned Community Forum.

Mohlakeng Old Age Home’s residents were recently treated to a revamped menu by the Mohlakeng Concerned Community Forum (MCCF).

The MCCF donated canned goods to the home providing the elderly assistance with their day-to-day challenges.

According to MCCF chairperson Paul Mokgopanyane, the NPO realised that the donors do not meet the circumference needs of the centre.

“Money is channelled into human resource capabilities and wide gaps are being identified to fulfil vision and mission,” Paul expressed.

He further noted the handover was a great success and the food, sponsored by Promasidor, was a blessing.

The old age home is an NPO subsidised by 75% and therefore every donation makes a huge difference.

“This donation made a difference because now the elderly can enjoy something different on the menu. They also feel more recognised by society,” he said.

The centre manager for the home, Tsidi Sepanya, thanks Paul and his team.

He added some of the residents at the old age home do not have a next of kin, so the forum would like to ensure that the residents feel loved and cared for by the community.

“Communities can help senior citizens by acknowledging, caring and loving them, assuring them that their lives are valuable. Give them proper treatment.

The forum’s future goal is to see communities enjoying their lives, kids with proper creches, learners with proper schools and availability of bursaries for students. A lot of jobs for youth and proper service delivery for communities,” he said.

The centre manager for the home, Tsidi Sepanya, commented on MCCF’s presence and thanked the forum for choosing the centre.
