Two hospitalised after tree falls on vehicle

Homestead Avenue reopened to motorists after the fallen tree was removed.

Two occupants of a Volkswagen Polo were taken to hospital after a tree fell on their vehicle on Homestead Avenue, this morning, April 5.

According to Rand West Emergency Services fire chief, Benny Mohlabeng, the tree fell as a result of the rain. The fire department, along with Rand West City Local Municipality, had to cut the tree down to free the occupants from the vehicle.

The road has since been cleared and is open to traffic.
