Gala evening showcases West Rand’s pure talent

A Gala Award Ceremony was held in Kagiso recently showcasing various talented artists on the West Rand.

Staff of the Gauteng Department of Sports Art Culture and Recreation were overjoyed recently to have received an award during the Gala Award Ceremony at the Archives Center in Kagiso.

“To be awarded a certificate as Best Performing Region took hard work and commitment from us as Region C in Randfontein. Highlights that stood out include hosting the Creche and Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centers’ mini Olympics at the Patrick Ace Ntsoelengoe Stadium in Mohlakeng last November. The aim was to unearth very young talent at a grassroots level,” said the Gauteng Department of Sports Art Culture and Recreation assistant director at the Region C office based in Toekomsrus, Nkosinathi Gumede.

“It is also pleasing to have had Kaya Engineering as a partner during the mini Olympics. This cements a cordial working relationship with the private sector to enhance community development.”

He further indicated it was a pleasure to have the deputy director of Creative Arts, Culture and Recreation Max Maxeke, in attendance.

The occasion also showcased the other side of staff who took part in singing, dancing and drama performances.”
