Clarisse Kruger, a volunteer at No More Tears, shared Bella the bull terrier’s story.
She explained Bella was found on April 25 in Dwarskloof. A resident called Stephan Hendricks, one of the directors of No More Tears, and informed him that Bella was lying next to the road and looked injured. After which, Stephan immediately drove out to get her and took her to the vet.
“The doctor confirmed she is old and has had a difficult few years. She is being treated for a broken knee and the beginning phase of tick fever.
The doctor said she is not out of danger yet, but they are doing everything in their power to make sure she will pull through,” said Clarisse.
Stephan explained, not long after they posted Bella’s photo on Facebook, they were contacted by someone claiming to be Bella’s owner. The owner told them she went missing six years ago while he still lived in the area. The owner then rushed to the vet and as soon as he called her name, Bella responded. Stephan added that there is ample proof that Bella is, in fact, their dog that went missing.
They have arranged with the vet to make monthly payments for her care as they do not have it all at the moment; the most important thing being Bella’s well-being.

“One could just see the love they had for Bella. The owner was heartbroken to see her in the condition she was in. We assume Bella was stolen, and most probably, the perpetrators thought they could breed with her. Bella is 12 years old, of which six years were most probably a life of misery. Bella, after six years, you are now home with a family that loves you,” added Stephan.
He expressed their appreciation towards Adora-Bull Terrier Rescue and Rehabilitation for their willingness to help Bella and for contributing to her vet bills.
Social media and people raising awareness are so important. It’s incredible that her people saw her on the post and came forward to say it was their dog,” Clarissa concluded.
