Crowning the youth to showcase local talent
To keep kids off the street and let them focus on education instead, Mahlohonolo Monyela founded an organisation that shines a light on local talent.
Mr and Miss GI RandWest City Municipality are hosting pageants to keep the youth off the streets and to help them prioritise education.

In partnership with the municipality, the organisation will be hosting their next competition at the Westonaria Banquet Hall during May 2026.
“We will be hosting our first charity event on June 1. We will be taking clothes and food to the less privileged in our community,” Mahlohonolo Monyela, founder of the organisation, said.
These competitions are important in our society because they keep the youth off the streets and build bonds between children and parents.
“We make sure that the parents work together with their children in workshops. The children also gain more knowledge in prioritising education.
“This is a way to build confidence and take youth away from drug and alcohol abuse while also preventing teenage pregnancy. The children are benefiting because they become the kings and queens. The organisation is also busy organising educational sponsorship in the Rand West,” Mahlohonolo explained.
