Bundles of help: Lenmed donates essentials to Baby G Haven
In an act of pure generosity, Lenmed donated months' worth of baby products to help Baby G Safe Haven continue to serve society.
Staff from Lenmed Private Hospital celebrated International Mandela Day with a heartwarming donation that will leave an imprint on Baby G Safe Haven’s children forever.
Lenmed donated a variety of necessities to the organisation, including nappies, baby food, groceries and hygiene products for babies. Not only did they donate the essentials, but they also offered to renovate the organisation’s playground.
Lendmed’s HR manager Katlego Moranye explained the hospital wanted to provide Baby G Safe Haven with more than just one day’s worth of donations.

“Many people think Mandela Day lasts only one day. We wanted to ensure that the organisation has enough supplies to last months. We are also providing a CPR course for the organisation. As Lenmed, we want to serve the community. Not just in a medical field, but also by helping the less fortunate. When we had to choose who to help on Mandela Day, Baby G Safe Haven was an easy decision,” he explained.
Hospital manager Johan Lombaard noted the importance of helping children. He explained, it does not matter what the child’s background is; it is important to support them in all ways possible.
“We have a big ICU and pediatric unit, so I see a lot of children who need help. It always warms my heart to see these children recover and turn their lives around. That is why we chose Baby G Safe Haven. When these children reach adulthood, perhaps they will remember this day and give back to the community as well,” Johan expressed.

He further stated Lenmed does about four outreaches every month, which include free screenings and education opportunities for the community. Every second month, Lenmed will follow up on Baby G Safe Haven.
Founder of the organisation, Zelda Bierman, expressed her deepest gratitude towards the generous act.
“This is the biggest donation we have ever received. Our older children need a space to play, and therefore, we are so thankful that the play area is being improved. When I started this organisation six years ago, I always thought that nobody celebrated Mandela Day. However, with time, I realised how big-hearted people are. I think Mandela played a big role in charity, and he proved that people can unite to make a change,” she said.
