Family relieved as their beloved cat returns home
After going missing on October 13, Jakkie the cat found her way home all on her own.
After being missing since October 13, Jakkie the cat found her way back home.
Vanessa van den Berg-Louw, Jakkie’s owner, explained that she arrived home late on October 16. She looked battered but was unharmed – just extremely hungry and tired.
“We gave her food and water with some extra vitamins, but she just wanted to lie on her favourite couch and sleep. This morning, she’s her old self again and wanted love from her mommy,” said Vanessa.
She expressed her relief over Jakkie’s return and reiterated that their family now feels complete again.

“If a person loves animals, your animals are like your children, and your heart breaks into pieces if something happens to them. I think I became 10 years older in the past few days,” said Vanessa.
She also expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the search for Jakkie, including the CPF and Cast Aways Animal Sanctuary, who shared the Facebook post and followed up on leads.
“They already have so much on their plate helping animals, yet they still go out of their way to help one person. These people have hearts of gold,” said Vanessa.
She also thanked the vets in the area who looked out for Jakkie and every community member who helped.
“I want to tell every cat owner looking for their fur-babies: Keep faith. Cats are fighters, and many times they find their way home even when we’ve given up,” she concluded.
