Development centre aids those affected by cancer
Ndimase Development Centre showed their support by creating awareness of breast cancer during a recent walk and talk event hosted at Simunye Library.
During a walk and talk event for breast cancer awareness, Ndimase Development Centre demonstrated its support for those currently facing cancer as well as survivors.
Latoya Norman from the centre explained that they help individuals struggling with cancer by offering counselling, referring them to the nearest hospital and checking on their progress throughout the journey.
She noted that many young people are unaware they have symptoms of cancer, as many believe that young people cannot develop the disease. Ndimase also assists in early detection by taking individuals for treatment.
Their main focus is teaching various skills to the community at no cost. These include garment making, printing, furniture making, computer skills, cosmetics manufacturing, and basic cooking skills. They also teach people how to become assistant chefs, as well as about poultry, agriculture, banking, and hospitality.
“We know what people are going through and we want to help,” said Latoya.
She has an aunt who is a survivor of womb cancer. She described it as a long and difficult journey for their family. Fortunately, they found a clinic that cared for her aunt and a place for her to stay.
Latoya expressed her gratitude that her aunt survived and is doing well.
