Spirit of Ubuntu shines as Mohlakeng residents receive wheelchairs

Gift of the Givers brought hope and empowerment to Mohlakeng by donating wheelchairs to three grateful residents.

In celebration of Disability Awareness Month, Gift of the Givers distributed wheelchairs to residents in need in Mohlakeng, Borwa, and Brandvlei.

In Mohlakeng, three residents from Leshomo Street – Elsie Nawa (85), Elsie Mohlamme (51), and Albertina Melato (87) – received wheelchairs that they had been eagerly anticipating. Their joy was palpable during the handover ceremony.

“This could not have come at a better time because it will help me take my mother to the hospital and clinic,” said Nkepi Melato, the daughter of Albertina.

“I can hardly express how happy I am, but I want to thank Gift of the Givers for providing me with this wheelchair. It will enable me to attend to important errands,” said Elsie Mohlamme.

“This gesture illustrates what can be accomplished when we come together to uplift humanity. These wheelchairs will not only transform lives but also reaffirm our collective commitment to an inclusive and caring society. They symbolise freedom of movement, empowerment, and the spirit of Ubuntu,” concluded Ivvy Masokoane from Gift of the Givers.
