Pretty paws and groomed claws – two entries for SPCA’s 2026 calendar
Pepé and Habib were among the pets whose photos were submitted for the RandWest SPCA's calendar for 2026.
The RandWest SPCA is excited to announce the release of their 2026 calendars, featuring two special pets, Becker and Habib, whose photos were submitted for inclusion.
SPCA fundraising volunteer Janine D’Alebout shared that this is their second calendar, and they are looking forward to the results.
The Randfontein Herald spoke with one of the pet owners, Zadie Becker Trollip, who submitted a photo of her pet. Zadie’s friendly dog, Pepé, prefers the nickname “Stofpad,” as he is often covered in dust.
“It is such a joy to have submitted Pepé’s picture. He brings so much laughter and love into our lives. Featuring him in the calendar feels really special. We’re thrilled to share a bit of his cheeky charm with others and hopefully bring a smile to everyone who sees his photo,” she expressed.

Zadie described Pepé as the perfect mix of mischief and magic. Despite his small size, she emphasised that he has a mighty personality and is completely unapologetic about his love for rolling in dirt.
“His happy, fearless little spirit captures the joy and energy we all adore in our pets. He is a reminder to live playfully and embrace life’s messier moments,” Zadie said.
The next submission was from Uzma Fruetwala, who introduced her fuzzy friend, Habib. Uzma explained that Habib is a masculine Arabic name meaning “beloved” or “darling”, which she feels perfectly describes his personality.
“I think my cat is such a cutie. He was adopted from the SPCA, so he is very special to us. When we first went to choose a pet, he was so friendly and just wanted to come to us. He is our family baby, and we love him dearly. He is the best snuggle bug!” Uzma shared.
