Paws and lights for a great cause

Randfontein residents and their furry friends gathered for a festive evening of fun, lights and giving back.

No More Tears Animal Rescue’s inaugural Christmas Dog Walk was a huge success, as many gathered with their furry friends to join in on the community event.

“The atmosphere, the festive lights, the laughter, and the wonderful sense of community made it a night we will always remember. The support from the community was absolutely heartwarming,” explained volunteer Clarisse Kruger.

She added that they had a large turnout, with around 50 dog entries, and said the community’s reaction was overwhelmingly positive, with many appreciating the lights, festivities, and friendly atmosphere.
“Several remarked that this was the kind of event Randfontein needed, expressing a desire to experience such a delightful evening again.”

Clarisse continued that the donations received had a significant impact on their efforts to rescue, care for, and support animals in need.

“We are truly grateful to every person who helped and contributed,” said Clarisse.

She further mentioned they are definitely planning to host another dog walk next year.

“We are planning to make the dog walk an annual tradition in Randfontein. The evening was everything we hoped for and more.

“Thank you to every individual, business, and supporter who helped make this evening so special, and of course, congratulations to all our winners of the Mr and Miss Randfontein Dog 2025 and Dog Petite 2025 competitions. This event showed how a community can come together for a wonderful cause. Our hearts are full, and we are very much looking forward to next year’s Christmas Dog Walk.”
