Modderfontein celebrates its new principal
Alex Reed has been appointed as the new principal of Laerskool Modderfontein Primary School, and his visions for success are already outlined.
After 21 years of educating and inspiring learners, Alex Reed (40) has reached a new milestone as he assumes the role of principal at Laerskool Modderfontein Primary School.
Alex took over on August 1, and he has big plans for the primary school.
He spent his entire childhood in Hillshaven and attended the school from 1991 to 1994. After finishing high school, he began his teaching career at Hoërskool Westonaria High School in 2004, where he taught Mathematics.
Although his initial plan was to pursue a career as an accountant, his dreams shifted quickly once he started teaching. In 2015, Alex continued his journey at Laerskool Modderfontein Primary School and became deputy principal in 2017.
“Since I grew up in Hillshaven, the primary school has always been close to my heart. When I finally became deputy principal, I already had a vision for what I wanted to create,” he expressed.
He further explained that his vision for the school is to establish an inclusive and forward-thinking learning environment where learners feel supported. He aims to build on the school’s traditions and achievements while also adopting innovative thinking.
“Being an educator today is challenging. Therefore, I strive to create a supportive environment for our teachers that enables them to give their best in the classroom. I feel privileged to be part of the staff and look forward to this journey,” he said.
Alex stated that the school’s academic success is already growing, with its sports programmes following suit. He plans to focus on these areas and elevate the school to the same standards as the top primary schools.
“I am very grateful to my wife, who has supported me throughout my journey. None of this would have been possible without her,” he concluded.
