Westgold choir gives winning performance at district competition
Four performances, four first-place finishes and one unforgettable day of success for Westgold Primary's choir.
Westgold Primary School is celebrating an outstanding achievement after its talented choir learners delivered exceptional performances at the Gauteng West District Choir Competition earlier this month.
The competition was held at the Krugersdorp Centenary Hall, where schools from across the district gathered to showcase their musical talents. Westgold proudly represented the school and achieved an incredible result by earning first position in all four categories entered.
According to school spokesperson Mariska du Plessis, this remarkable success reflects the hard work, dedication and passion of the learners, conductors and support staff.
“After months of preparation and many hours of practice, the choirs took to the stage with confidence, discipline and enthusiasm. Each performance highlighted not only musical excellence but also the values of teamwork, perseverance, respect and unity that are at the heart of Westgold,” she said.

The school further extended its heartfelt congratulations to every learner who participated and thanked the dedicated conductors and teachers for their guidance and encouragement. Appreciation is also extended to parents and guardians for their continued support throughout the journey.
Mariska added that this achievement is about more than winning trophies and certificates, as it celebrates the power of music to bring people together, inspire excellence and build confidence.
“It is a reminder that great things can be achieved when people work together with dedication and purpose. Congratulations on this outstanding accomplishment. You have made the school proud and lifted the name of Westgold with honour and distinction,” she concluded.
