Disappointing service from municipal workers

It is not the first time I have experienced rude and unhelpful people at Randfontein Municipality.

After almost 20 hours without electricity, I phoned the Engineering Department of the Randfontein Municipality on Saturday 22 June at 9.30am to ask when we could expect the power to be returned to us, to which, the woman who answered would not tell me anything but curtly gave me an emergency number to phone and rudely put the phone down in my ear.

I did phone the number but it was continually engaged.

At 10am I phoned 107, with a completely different experience.

The lady who answered the phone (in Krugersdorp) was curteous and obliging.

It is not the first time I have experienced rude and unhelpful people at Randfontein Municipality.

One experience was that I sent an e-mail to the Director of Infrastructure (with regards to the potholes in Culemborg Park) and I did not even get an acknowledgement to my email – never mind an answer.

We have been experiencing power failures in Culemborg Park since the beginning of the year but lately it has deteriorated to the point that we are never sure when the electricity is going to be off.

The power is cut at the most inconvenient times and ungodly hours, eg halfway through making dinner, among other routine chores that get interrupted.

This is an ongoing problem that never gets resolved.

In my opinion, the Council needs to be re-shuffled with more competent people
