Bodybuilder wins big in Italy

Bodybuilder from Glenharvie walks away with Mr Fitness Model title in Italy.

Bonginkosi Zulu, a bodybuilder from Glenharvie, recently competed in the International Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (IBFF) World Championships and walked away with the title of Mr Fitness Model.

The IBFF World Championships, which were held in Taranto, Italy, on 14 and 15 October attracted entrants from a total of 21 countries.

Bonginkosi is also said to be the first bodybuilder from Sibanye Gold to compete and win abroad. In addition to winning Mr Fitness Model, he placed fourth in the Mr Fitness category.

He explained the difference between Mr Fitness Model and Mr Fitness as the following: “Mr Fitness Model is a self-explanatory category, where one is expected to show ones fitness as a model. Mr Fitness, on the other hand, focuses on physique, separation of the muscles and flexibility”.

“It was a great experience to be on an international level and compete in two divisions. Yes, it was challenging, but I have managed to get this far, thanks to the support I received from my family, friends and colleagues,” he said.

Bonginkozi has also competed in many other bodybuilding events, including the WFF (World Fitness Federation) Championships, in which he came third last year.

“Even though I am an experienced bodybuilder, this was my first time competing and winning abroad. The competition was tough but because of my support system it was simple for me to win these categories. I would like to thank everyone that supported me through this journey,” he said.

“I would also like to give advice to all the bodybuilders around the world that still wish to get where I am today – please stick to a good diet, because nothing will work if you are on the wrong diet.”
