Fun day on greens as interest in bowls keeps growing
Numerous people came together on a sunny day for the Randfontein Bowling Club's first bowling fun day of the year.
It was another joyful occasion on the bowling greens during the Randfontein Bowling Club’s first fun day of the year and boy, it was fun!
The fun day was hosted on Sunday, February 6 and commenced at 11:00 with many eager players ready for action on the greens. Even Herald journalist, Michelle Roodt tried her hand at the game.
After everyone had signed up and taken their bowling balls, it was off to the green to meet up with the other teammates.
Everyone was looking forward for some friendly competition and not even the heat of the day could stop them. It soon became evident why it’s recommended to wear a hat, a shirt that covers one’s shoulders and lots of sunscreen.
After a long game of 14 shots (rounds) with a short break halfway through, there was a braai to end off the busy day.
Let me tell you … it might look easy but bowls is a very difficult sport to master; but it’s a fun game for everyone, young and old,” Michelle said.
