A fun day of bowling for the whole family
Randfontein Bowling Club had yet another fun day for the entire family.
The Randfontein Bowling Club held its monthly Fun Day on November 3, welcoming community members for a day of relaxation and entertainment.
Barbara Britz, a club member, explained that these Fun Days are hosted on the first Sunday of every month, offering a welcoming environment for everyone – whether they’re seasoned bowlers or complete beginners looking to try the sport.
“It’s just a fun day for everyone,” said Barbara. “You get out of the house with the whole family, relax, and enjoy yourselves. The entire family, young and old, is welcome to join.” The event includes a variety of activities, with braai packs and salads provided, creating an atmosphere where participants can unwind and have a great time.
These gatherings have not only brought joy to attendees but also helped the club grow. “We’ve even gained new members, including two primary school learners, through these Fun Days,” Barbara shared.
“People come to enjoy the day, discover they like the sport, and end up playing regularly.”
The Fun Days have been a club tradition for the past four years, serving both as a social occasion and a vital fundraiser. Proceeds are used for the club’s upkeep, including maintaining the greens and supporting staff. With only 32 members, the club relies heavily on these events to cover its expenses.
“We would love more support from the community,” Barbara said. “Bowling is a wonderful sport for all ages and a great way for families to spend quality time together. Everyone is welcome to join us for a relaxing and enjoyable day.”
