Off-road racers steering clear from defeat
Local off-road racers took home victory after competing in the Botswana Off-Road Racing Championships.
André van der Walt en Kevin Barker recently made history as South African off-road racers at the Botswana Off Road Racing Championship (BORRC) Round 3 Gakgatla 250km in Botswana.
Driver André and his navigator Kevin made big strides on November 16 after competing in the production vehicle category. In the race, André and Kevin used their Hillux bakkie to achieve the overall class win for all-wheel-powered cars.
Even though André said the terrain was tough and the challenges were rocky, he enthusiastically noted that he and his team will be returning for the final round. He also expressed Botswana was a mesmerising experience since it was his first time competing there.
André has 12 years of experience and Kevin currently has 15 years. Both of the off-road racers claimed their passion for the sport developed when their parents started participating. Since then, they have been behind the wheel and ready to take challenges on.
