According to the chairperson of the SPCA, Brenda Eloff, this is the first time such a charity event will be hosted in the RandWest SPCA’s history. To help make this charity event a success, residents can support Tjaart on the day by sponsoring him per kilometre. It will cost R10 per km.
We are very excited about this event, and we pray it will be a huge success. We hope to raise about R70 000 to upgrade both our Randfontein and Westonaria branches.
“Please support Tjaart in Durban because we need the community’s help,” Brenda concluded.

Tjaart partakes in endurance multisport races consisting of swimming, cycling and running over various distances. He has been participating in this sport for over four years.

He started his sports journey by running the Comrades Marathon five times. However, when competing one day, Tjaart was run over by a drunk driver. Although he was comatose for a while, Tjaart started slowly rebuilding his sports career by swimming. As time went on, Tjaart eventually started participating in triathlons.
He has since joined the Swim Bike Run 365 Club.
Tjaart has already completed two Ironman Marathons of 70.3km and participated in the South African Championships twice. He received fifth place in his age group during his recent South African Championship.
I love being fit for charity projects and to help people in need. I am a brand ambassador for Fit for Rhinos, and I am also trying to raise funds to pay for Christopher’s brain cancer treatment,” he concluded.
