Family loss helps Sthembiso dribble to greatness

Sthembiso Khanyile is the next player at the Greenhills Super Tiger Football Club to introduce himself in the Meet a Super Tiger series.

Sthembiso Khanyile (12) is already showing the type of talent that turns football dreams into a reality.

He currently plays right wing for the Greenhills Super Tigers Football Club and has been playing football for two years.

His passion for the sport began when he was in Grade Four. His cousin started teaching him how to dribble and control the ball. However, when Sthembiso was in Grade Five, his cousin unfortunately passed away.

Even though it was a sad time in Sthembiso’s life, the loss motivated him to continue his football journey.

My favourite thing about football is passing the ball to other players and having control over the ball. I also like communicating with my teammates. I am happy about what I am currently achieving because I am staring afresh,” he said.

His role model is Cristiano Ronaldo, and he dreams of becoming a professional football player.

Furthermore, Sthembiso also gave a word of advice to those his age who dream of achieving their goals.

“Never give up and continue to motivate yourself. The moment everyone started believing in me was the moment I knew what I was made for. Children just need to be supported to help them achieve their goals,” he concluded.

Sthembiso Khanyile takes on the challenge during practice.
