Honouring local heroes: Community service awards set for November
Attention community heroes: Prepare to register for the upcoming West-Rand Community Service Awards.
The West Rand Community Service Awards (West Rand Comsa) is set to take place in November, and community heroes are urged to register.
Project manager Bokang Tsie explained that the event will be hosted on November 29, and nominee registrations will open on August 1 and close by September 30.
“Comsa is not only to recognise and honour groups who serve their communities tirelessly, but also to honour service delivery and bring awareness to individuals with disabilities. Kgantsha Lesedi [organiser] believes that this initiative will inevitably boost the community’s morale and encourage other individuals to get involved in community service work,” Bokang emphasised.
Participants who are eligible to register include community leaders, small, medium and micro enterprises, welfare services, and organisations in sectors such as sports, arts and culture. The applications are divided into youth (21 to 35 years of age), general applicants (36 to 59 years of age) and the Lifetime Achievers category (60 years and above).
The event will be organised by Kgantsha Lesedi Foundation, and the stakeholders are the local municipality, the West Rand District Municipality, the Gauteng Department of Education and the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
