Rachel (13) eyes national gymnastics stage, but needs sponsorship

A 13-year-old gymnast from Rikasrus has earned a spot at the national championships, but requires community support to participate.

Rachel Pautsch (13) has qualified for the 2025 National Gymnastics Championship in Durban this October, but needs the community’s support to make her dream a reality.

“I am proud of my accomplishment and happy that my hard work is paying off,” Rachel stated.

She qualified for the national competition during the Gauteng Gymnastics Competition that took place on August 29.

She trains every day for six hours with her team from Gold Reef Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, as well as at home, in preparation for the upcoming event.

Rachel started doing gymnastics in 2022 at the age of 10. What started as a hobby and extramural activity has now become her passion.

“I love that gymnastics is a unique sport that not many people do and that it allows me to push my body to greater limits,” said Rachel.

To compete in the national championship, she, however, needs support from the community for the Gauteng kit, entry fee and travel expenses. Any person who would like to donate can contact Rachel’s mother, Roxanne, on 083 212 5942.

“It is a disciplined sport, you have to be dedicated and work hard, but as long as you don’t give up, it is worth it,” Rachel concluded.
