Teamwork on display at West Rand Intergovernmental Games

West Rand District municipalities united with government departments and law enforcement in the Intergovernmental Games to strengthen teamwork and improve service delivery.

A display of collaboration was evident after Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) hosted the Intergovernmental Games on September 4 at the Greenhills Stadium.

According to RWCLM spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, this initiative aimed to unite the three local municipalities in the West Rand, which include RWCLM, Mogale City Local Municipality, and Merafong City Local Municipality.

The games saw participation from all three municipalities, along with the Gauteng Department of Health, the police, Gauteng Crime Prevention Wardens, and the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation. The sporting codes on offer included soccer, athletics, netball, aerobics and more.

“The objective of this event was to foster intergovernmental relations and build cohesion among public institutions, ultimately enhancing effective service delivery. By creating a platform for unity and collaboration, the games promote stronger working relations across different sectors of the government,” Montshiwa stated.
