Soccer foundation celebrates U11 team’s success

The John Adams Foundation's U11 soccer team not only won the recent Knockout Cup Finals but also celebrated their second-place finish in the Bosmont Football Association.

The John Adams Foundation’s U11 soccer team recently came second in the Bosmont Football Association U11 division and continued their winning streak in the Knockout Cup finals.

Chairperson of the foundation’s U11 soccer division, Clinton Adams, explained that they enrolled in the Bosmont Football Association to give the children exposure to ‘good soccer development’.

They not only played every weekend but also competed in friendly matches. Ultimately, they finished in second place in the U11 division.

They also competed in the Knockout Cup finals, where they beat Rangers Football Club.

“The game was very intense and played at a high pace, as both teams wanted to score a goal. We managed to win the game via a penalty shoot-out as no goals were scored during the match. Our goalkeeper saved and scored the final penalty that allowed us to be victorious on the day,” said Clinton.

He continued that they started the foundation in March this year. They have boys and girls on their team from both Randfontein and Roodepoort.

“We started this initiative to keep children off the streets and participating in soccer. It also aligns with discipline. We want to keep my late grandfather John Adams’ name alive, who was also a passionate sportsperson,” Clinton added.

He thanked a butchery for their assistance with food donations. The foundation further plans to finish the year with an End-of-Year Players Award on December 6.
