From a 1981 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and 1931 Ford Model to a ’60s Mustang and Lotus 7, there was something for all to stare at or show off.

This car show took place on Human Rights Day, and as previously reported, they host the event four times a year on public holidays.

The Herald’s sister publication, the Krugersdorp News, attended this engine-powered day to see some of the residents’ classy vehicles.

Michael Day arrived in a classic American muscle car, a 1981 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, which had a V8 rumble that would make you close your ears.

Jan Lubbe had a car made for sprinting the quarter mile – a 1972 Chevrolet Can-Am.

I have two of them. The one I brought to the show can do a quarter mile in 11 seconds. The other one is a bit faster… doing it in about nine seconds,” he explained.

Ben de Klerk arrived with a car he had built himself, a Lotus 7.

“I built this car many years ago, however, I do not let people drive with me as this type of car can be dangerous, especially if you get in an accident. There is very little protection when you get in a crash,” he concluded.
