Bronberrick spruit polluted with silver paint
“We still await a visit from the Green Scorpions and it seems they know who it is.”
The Green Scorpions was alerted after a business in Hennops Industrial Park, Centurion, discharged effluent into the Bronberrick spruit, in Kilkenny Road across the Galway Centre.
“The perpetrator will be prosecuted,” said Tarryn Johnston, founder of Hennops River Revival, who was on the scene.
“On which level is this okay?

“Bronberrick spruit is one of the Hennops river’s tributaries, and this is absolutely unacceptable conduct,” a visibly disturbed Johnston said.
A resident from Roper Street, Colin Hinks, said his wife walks the dog daily and noticed the pollution yesterday at around 18:00.

“I alerted Tarryn who summoned the Green Scorpions.”
Charles Meeser, owner of Centurion Ice Cream across the street, was also on the scene.
“The previous time someone dumped stuff in the river, people were wondering whether it was me and I was wrongly accused,” he said.

Johnston said at this stage they can confirm it looks like silver paint in the water, as well as an unknown white fluid.
“We still await a visit from the Green Scorpions and it seems they know who it is,” Johnston said.
“I have taken water samples which will be tested in Pietermaritzburg at a reputable laboratory.”
She thanked Talbot The Art of Water for paying for the tests.
“This spruit feeds the Hennops river, which is in a terrible state already. I hope a good example will be made of the perpetrator.”
