Intruder shot dead in Midstream

An intruder was shot dead after a shootout in Midstream on Wednesday.

An armed man is still at large after his accomplice was shot dead during a shootout in Midstream on Wednesday morning, police said on Friday.

This when a resident spotted a parked Volkswagen Polo with strangers inside after the estates issued out a warning about laptop thieves earlier this week

The Bidvest Protea Coin security were immediately called.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale said the occupants opened fire at the approaching security guards.

“The security officers returned fire. During the shootout, a suspect was fatally wounded and his accomplice fled the scene.

According to reports, the intruder was shot outside a school in the estates.

According to the estates, coin security launched a helicopter search along with police after the accomplice fled the estates.

Mogale said their getaway car was later found on the M57 in Olifantsfontein.

“Police also recovered a laptop, two remotes which are suspected to be used as jammers and a knife at the scene.”

Midstream Estates said: “The incident emphasises that the combined effort in vigilance from residents and guards will help to kerb crime within Midstream to create a safer environment for all.”
