Foundation a beacon of hope for crisis centre
“We are only scratching the surface, however, we can achieve more if we are united.”
A Pretoria-based charity foundation reached out to the Tshwane crisis centre by donating goods needed to help serve the community.
At the beginning of August, Morongwa Foundation partnered with Beacon of Hope and The Books Consulting to donate goods to the Tshwane Medico and Legal Crisis Centre caring for abused women and children.
The crisis centre offers examination and treatment to women and children who are victims of gender-based violence or sexual assault. The centre is also involved with further care for children awaiting placement in shelters.
The items donated to the centre include clothing, sanitary pads, toys, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits.

“We are only scratching the surface, however we can achieve more if we are united,” Nkagare Makhudu, founder and CEO of Morongwa Foundation said.
Morongwa Foundation is a Pretoria-based organisation driving integrated community development aimed at improving the welfare and livelihoods of marginalised communities through strategic partnerships across South Africa.
Makhudu emphasised that it takes real men to protect women and children.
“The safety of women and children is of paramount importance to our foundation and partners. Gender-based violence is a sign of weakness.”
He further said the challenges faced by the centre on a daily basis was heartbreaking.
“It was sad to learn of the challenges experienced by the centre, which is inundated with cases on a daily basis.”
He said the centre is in need of proper furniture for the waiting area.
“The children’s room needs a total makeover with child-friendly furniture, as well as books and soft toys.”
Other needs include dignity packs, which are made up with essentials such as toiletries, sanitary pads and new underwear.

“There’s nothing more fulfilling as making a change in other’s lives. To see their faces literally lit up when we engage them.”
Makundu invited the community to get involved with helping them assist the crisis centre with donations.
