Large amounts of rain led to flooding across various parts of Pretoria
“Fortunately no-one was reported injured in the flooding incidents that were reported yesterday.”

Parts of the City of Tshwane saw flooding as large amounts of rain left some roads closed, while others saw flooding of parking lots and low-lying bridges on February 3.
Despite numerous flooded roads reported, Spokesperson for the Tshwane Emergency Services Department, Deputy-Chief Charles Mabaso, said no injuries were reported.
“Following yesterday’s showers and storms experienced in various parts of Tshwane and Gauteng, several incidents of flooding were reported in parts of Soshanguve, Nelmapius and Mamelod The low water bridge close to PPC cement in Capital Park had to be closed temporarily due to the water that was overflowing the roadway”, said Mabaso.
The rain affected traffic on highways, as home time traffic became congested due to poor driving conditions. Mabaso also said that parts of the Pretoria City Centre experienced severe rain and storms that led to traffic congestion late yesterday.

“Fortunately no one was reported injured in the flooding incidents that were reported yesterday.” Said Mabaso.
According to forecasts by the South African Weather Service, Saturday and Sunday are expected to have late showers and thundershowers predicted to begin from 14:30 into the evening.
Monday is expected to be partly cloudy throughout, but early forecasts predict heavy rains from mid-week.
Mabaso said that Tshwane emergency services would remain on high alert and were receiving regular updates from South African Weather Services in tracking further potential flooding events.
“Our teams are on stand-by to respond to incidents where they are reported,” he said.
For any emergency, Mabaso asked residents to remember to dial 107, which is toll free across all cell providers, as well as landlines.
