LEGO Brickfair comes to Menlyn

The annual fair has been ongoing for over 10 years.

Menlyn shoppers this weekend were treated to a two-day exhibition of some of the best LEGO works the country has to offer during this year’s Brickfair.

The premier event of LEGO South Africa takes place every last week of October and this year locals could enjoy over 260 works on display.

The creations came from the country’s top three LEGO User Groups (LUGs).

Axel, Elizabeth and Chanelle Potgieter and Faith Adlard.
Centurion residents, Quintin Maartens and Monique Louw.

“The highlight of the event for me at least was the collaborative displays in terms of castle and fantasy. There’s a massive display of Tatooine from Star Wars, Tall Boy which is the tallest free-standing LEGO just in front of the LEGO store. We’ve got many things: Harry PotterLord of the Rings, there’s something for everyone,” said the director of possibilities, Willi Badenhorst.

The expo was also covered by Beyond The Brick TV, the international YouTube sensation dedicated to LEGO enthusiasts which was a Brickfair and Menlyn Park first.

Kids also enjoyed the LEGO Play Pit, a LEGO Bowling Alley as well as a LEGO Wall and giant Noughts-and-Crosses.

“It was an amazing 2023. Great fun was had by all,” Badenhorst concluded.
