64 suspects arrested in festive season police raids

Police worked around the clock during the week and have arrested 64 suspects for various crimes in Mamelodi East, police said on Saturday.

“Police came out in full swing to ensure high visibility around the hot spots and the results were clear as there were more arrests for public drinking and road traffic offences,” said police spokesman Warrant Officer Michael Mbewe.

Some arrests during the raids include violations of protection orders, assault, possession of stolen property, theft, pointing of firearm, burglary and malicious damage to property.

“Communities must brace themselves for a prolonged presence of police raids this festive season,” said Mbewe.
