Matric results out soon

The Basic Education Minister will announce the 2013 NSC Matric Results on Monday, the Department of Education said.

The class of 2013 matric group will finally know their fate when the 2013 NSC matric results are announced by Basic Education minister, Angie Motshekga, at the SABC studios on Monday, the Department said.

“The results will be available at schools, in print and online media on Tuesday, 7 January. A total of 57 690 full-time and 130 646 part-time candidates sat for the 2013 examinations in 6 699 exam centres,” said the Basic Education Department in a statement.

The 2012 matric pass rate was 73,9%, improving by 3,7% from 2011’s pass rate. Earlier in the week, the Independent Examinations Board’s (IEB) matric result pass rate for 2013 increased to 98,6% as compared to 2012, which had a pass rate of 98,2%.

Gauteng MEC for Education, Barbara Creecy, will announce the province’s matric results on Tuesday at a provincial ceremony in Johannesburg, where top achievers will be honoured.
