The police are warning members of the public to be wary of suspicious strangers and vehicles in their neighbourhood after a woman was held at gunpoint and robbed earlier this month at her home in Eldoraigne.
The woman arrived at her home in the afternoon and noticed a strange vehicle parked in front of her gate. According to the police spokesperson, Captain Agnes Huma, the woman asked the strangers what they were doing there and they replied that they were waiting for someone.
When she tried to open her gate it appeared to be stuck. She asked the men in the vehicle why the gate was stuck, when one of the suspects got out of the vehicle and pressed a firearm into her stomach. Leading her into her house, the men tied her up and stole valuables to the value of R22 500.
A case of house robbery has been opened, but no arrests have been made.
“Do not trust strangers, call the police if you suspect something and do not stop in front of them,” Huma said.
