Amandasig family held at gunpoint

Four gunmen allegedly held a family of four at gunpoint in their house in Amandasig earlier on Thursday, police said.

This is the second robbery in the area this week.

“The police are investigating a case of armed robbery after four men with two firearms broke into a home in Amandasig,” Akasia spokersperson Riana Van Aarde said. The husband was injured after one of the gunmen struck him with a firearm. According to Van Aarde the men got away.

Van Aarde warned that people should be vigilant and keep their homes, and themselves safe.

“They should always get to know their neighbors. When you are being attacked, it always helps to have a helping hand next door.”
