Police are still investigating the case of Constable Marie Els who was caught on video assaulting a suspect in a holding cell at the Hercules Police Station.
According to provincial police spokeswoman Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale, Els will be issued with papers of intention to suspension.
In the video, which has since been removed from YouTube, it was seen how Els kicked and also stabbed the suspect with an iron bar.
It is alleged that the assault of the suspect happened while he was being questioned by the constable in the holding cell. It further alleged that another police officer was watching while Els was busy questioning the suspect.
The suspects were arrested for armed robbery and will appear at the Pretoria Magistrate court on 26 January.
There is still more investigations that the police are conducting regarding the case.
